About this site

The NJ, NY & CT Railroad page was started by Pierce Haviland in 1997 to provide information and photographs relating to railroading in the New Jersey, New York and Connecticut area. It is constantly updated with contributions from photographers who are railroad employees or enthusiasts. Since photo subjects are from all over the world, we have changed the name of the site to World Rail Photos. Enjoy your visit.

In memory of Steven Driscoll, NYPD ESU
a devoted husband, brother and son of three Metro-North employees

Paul Battaglia
Step Son of a Metro-North employee

and Michael Waye
former Metro-North Simulator Technician and U.S. Navy Veteran

all victims of 9/11/01

Paul Battaglia

Paul Battaglia was the step son of a co-worker at Metro-North who raised him from age four. Paul worked for Marsh McLennan, along with Michael Waye, our former simulator technician. Paul's sense of humor touched all who knew him. He kept a web journal at www.Battaglia.org His father is keeping the site up. You can contribute to the Paul Battaglia Scholarship Fund at Binghamton University, PO Box 6000, Binghamton, NY 13902-6000.

NYPD ESU Officer Stephen Driscoll

NYPD Officer Stephen Driscoll

NYPD Officer Stephen Driscoll was assigned to Emergency Services Unit 4 in the Bronx. He was a US Navy veteran and was known as "the mayor of emergency services". His wife and sister work for Metro-North. His father recently retired after many years of service as a conductor. As you can imagine, Stephen's loss has had a dramatic effect on employees at Metro-North. There is a collection being taken that will go directly to Officer Driscoll's son, Barry. Please join me in contributing to this good cause.

Timothy Aaron Haviland

Tim was a distant cousin who grew up in St. Paul, MN. He met his wife, Amy, on the internet and fell in love. After moving to New York, he began working for Marsh McLennan along with Paul Battaglia and Michael Waye.

Amy Haviland's brother, Robert Spear, was a fireman who also died on 9/11. Astronaut Dr. Laurel Clark, who was killed in the shuttle Columbia accident, was Tim's first cousin and also a distant relative of mine.

Michael H. Waye

Michael Waye worked for many years as a technician for Dynamic Sciences Ltd. maintaining America's first passenger train simulator facility for Metro-North. He was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served aboard the USS Henry Jackson Trident submarine as a fire control technician. He obtained his Novell certification while working towards his bachelor's degree at Queens College. Shortly before 9/11, he had been promoted to Vice President with Marsh McLennan.

STOP! - The thought is not enough. Please contribute to these fine causes. You have enjoyed this web site for free. Do something special today and contribute to the Stephen Driscoll fund or Paul Battaglia Scholarship. You will feel much better when you do.

Thank you for caring.
